Medical Professional Development

Introduction

The Specialist and Medical Officer Professional Development Unit, formerly known as the Postgraduate Unit, was established in 2010 to coordinate the management of House Officers’ (HO) training at Hospital Kuala Lumpur. In October 2019, the unit was rebranded as the Medical Officer Management Unit (UPPP), assuming the functions and scope of the former Postgraduate Unit while expanding its role to include the placement management of Medical Officers according to the hospital’s service requirements.

Effective 20 August 2025, the unit was renamed the Specialist and Medical Officer Professional Development Unit. In line with this rebranding, the unit’s scope of services was expanded to encompass the management of the hospital’s Credentialing and Privileging (C&P) processes for all clinical personnel at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
