Introduction
The Nursing Service Division is an organized professional division of Hospital Kuala Lumpur and is responsible to the hospital management via the Chief Matron. It is responsible by providing the clinical, managerial and educational resources necessary for the provision of excellence in nursing care in accordance with established professional standard.
It will endeavor to create an environment that is customer focused with emphasis on the individual's physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs. It also aims to provide the nursing personnel with a high quality working life and opportunities to achieve their full potential. In accordance with the hospital policy.

To provide quality nursing service through safe, effective, efficient nursing care that will contribute to the total care of the patient.
Objective
- Provide nursing service with emphasis on promotional, preventive, curative and rehabilitative aspects of care
- Provide continuous health education to the community
- Implement strategies that promote quality and cost-effective care to the consumers
- To set, implement and revise standards of nursing care on regular basis
- Evaluate and monitor nursing care based on criteria of quality assurance and nursing standards
- Provide a conducive environment to staff involvement in making decision activities that enhances the quality of nursing care delivered
- Enhance nursing practice through providing continuous professional nursing education programs
- Facilitate higher education and * Enhance the image of professional nursing both in hospital and community
- Cooperate with nursing colleagues and other educational institutions by providing clinical experience for students
- Initiate and facilitate nursing research
Services
The Nursing Services Division is led by a Chief Nurse Supervisor U48. The Nursing Services Division provides support services to all areas that require its services. It is divided into 13 clinical care areas led by Nursing Supervisor U44/Flexi U44/U42/Flexi U41/U36.
The Nursing Services Division of Hospital Kuala Lumpur consists of 13 areas of care carried out as follows:
- Area 1 – Urology and Nephrology
- Area 2 – Orthopedic and Traumatology
- Area 3 – General Medical and Dermatology
- Area 4 – intensive Care
- Area 5 - Surgical Treatment, Endoscopy, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology and Radiology
- Area 6 – Perioperative Care and CSSU
- Area 7 – Neuroscience care
- Area 8 – Radiotherapy and Oncology care
- Area 9 – Pediatric Care and Neonatology
- Area 10 – Obstetric and Gynecology Care Hospital Tunku Azizah
- Area 11 – National Transplant Source Center
- Area 12 – Emergency and Trauma care
- Area 13 – Nursing Quality Unit and Blood Transfusion Team,
- Occupational Safety and Health Unit,
- Continuing Education Unit,
- Bed Management Unit,
- Infection Control Unit.
Client Charter
The Nursing Division, Hospital Kuala Lumpur is committed to providing professional, safe, quality care and services by adopting teamwork, caring and professionalism. We promise to ensure the goals are achieved and the customers are satisfied with the Nursing Services according to the following provisions.
1. Annual Practicing Certificate (APC):
100% of Nurses must have an APC for the current year and will receive an APC for the following year no later than 31 December of the current year.
2. Orientation Program:
90% of Nurses will be given orientation within a month after reporting to the Nursing Unit.
3. Mentoring Program:
100% of newly appointed nurses (mentee) must passed the mentoring program and be competent in caring out nursing care services.
4. In-service training:
100% of Nurses will undergo in-service training and gain at least 20 credit points in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) every year.
5. Credentialing and Privileging:
- 100% of Nurses who work for 6 months in a Special Unit/Department are privileged for major procedures after completed their mentoring program.
- 100% of Nurses working in sub-specialties are credentialed according to the determined regulations.
6. To provide treatment in a safe environment by achieving nursing quality standards as set:
- Administration of medication
- Achieving 100% no errors in medication administration.
- Thrombophlebitis :
- Incidence of Thrombophlebitis ≤0.5% in the treatment of intravenous therapy.
- Blood/Blood Components Transfusion :
- 100% no error in blood/blood components transfusion.
- Pressure injury :
- Incidence of pressure injury <2.1% among non - ambulatory patients.
- Patients Fall :
- The incidence rate of falls among patients in the ward is ≤4 per 1000 patient bed days.
7. 80% of Staff Nurses with post basic course are placed in related sub specialities.
8. Patients Satisfaction Survey:
- > 90% patients are satisfied with the Nursing Services.
9. Customer complaints:
- 100% of complaints from customers related to nursing will be solved within 15 working days.
