INTRODUCTION

Unit Pendidikan Berterusan (CME), Kuala Lumpur Hospital is a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity center for Kuala Lumpur Hospital staff, especially for professional and nursing groups. In addition, this unit has a big role in providing orientation to nurses who report to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital before being able to carry out their duties in the placement to be determined.

Unit Pendidikan Berterusan (CME) also serves as the coordinator for seminar room reservation in the Main Block and in the Specialist and Daily Treatment Complex (SCACC) for the use of departments / units from within and outside HKL.

BACKGROUND

In early 1980s Y.Bhg Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Abu Bakar Suleiman, Director of Health Malaysia has suggested that CME activities be implemented in hospitals. CME Unit  (Continuous Medical Education), Kuala Lumpur Hospital which is now known as Unit Pendidikan Berterusan, HKL has been assigned to carry out CME (Continuous Medical Education) activities. In 1995 the Unit Pendidikan Berterusan, HKL was appointed as the secretariat to the CME / CPD Committee, Kuala Lumpur Hospital and the CNE / CPD Committee, Kuala Lumpur Hospital. Currently the Unit Pendidikan Berterusan, Kuala Lumpur Hospital is under the auspices of the Deputy Director of Surgery

VISION

Implement Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities for professional groups and nurses, as well as implementing orientation programs for groups of nurses who report at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

Coordinate the booking of seminar rooms in the Main Block (Main Auditorium, Ibnu Sina Room and Main Meeting Room) as well as seminar rooms in SCACC (Levels 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6) for the use of Departments / Units from within and outside HKL.

MISSION

Committed to provide education and training by implementing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities according to pre-planned programs that are effective for professional groups and nurses.

Committed to coordinate and ensure that seminar rooms can be used smoothly and effectively.

OBJECTIVE

 i. Coordinate and assist in the operation of ongoing in-service learning programs for Nursing.

ii. Coordinate and assist in ongoing in-service learning programs for professional groups.

iii. Coordinate and monitor the use of the Main Auditorium, Ibnu Sina Seminar Room, Main Meeting Room and Seminar Rooms at the Specialist & Daily Treatment Complex, Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

DEPARTMENTAL FUNCTIONS

1. Coordinate and implement in - service educational activities for professional groups (CME / CPD)
2. Coordinate and implement in - service educational activities for nursing groups (CNE / CPD)
3. Coordinate and implement orientation activities for all categories of nurses who report to Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
4. Coordinate the booking of seminar rooms in the Main Block and in the Specialist & Daily Treatment Complex (SCACC)
5. Manage and supervise multimedia equipment and AVA equipment for training and learning facilities in the Unit Pendidikan Berterusan , Kuala Lumpur Hospital
6. Coordinate Basic Life Support courses for paramedics in critical areas and monitor achievement of HPIA (BLS) to meet the set standards (≥70%)
7. Coordinate launching and opening ceremonies according to the needs of the hospital and department level

CLIENS CHARTER

1. Unit Pendidikan Berterusan, Kuala Lumpur Hospital will coordinate activities organized by the Continuing Professional Development Committee (CPD) according to the annual schedule through the implementation of internal training activities in a short period of not less than 1 hour and not more than 3 days.
2. Unit Pendidikan Berterusan , Kuala Lumpur Hospital accepts seminar room booking applications within 3 months from the date of use. Bookers must complete 2 copies of the form bookings within 7 days before the date of use for approval.
